An event
is a time- and space-bound, planned and goal-oriented event aimed at people outside their daily routine. An event can be one-off or recurring and can take place in either a physical or virtual space.
The event industry
The events sector is the business of organising and serving events as a business activity. The events sector operates as an ecosystem network of businesses and produces events as an end product.
Events are content presented in a format. The event industry includes many types of businesses and services. The event industry is also closely linked to tourism and other service sectors – events get people moving, spending and using services.

Kati is a versatile event industry professional, visionary and an events nerd. She has worked in many event industry sectors and been responsible for business operations and the production and development of many demanding events and partnerships, such as Slush and LUX Helsinki.
Event Industry Finland (Tapahtumateollisuus ry), a globally unique alliance of event industry professionals and organisations, was born from Kati’s idea and she was critical in its early success. Event Industry Finland has produced the first definitions for events & event industry in Finland as well as industry surveys and the publication Sectoral Definition of the Event Industry and its Connections to Urban Development for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland.
Kati is a keen kicksledder and singer who believes in a bright future and people’s ability to reach it. She is interested in how the world works and why people do what they do.
